DogSheep Treasure Hunt is a “build your own adventure”, GPS-based game. You design “virtual” clues to the treasure and place them on a map. Then invite your friends for a nice workout outdoors to see who is first to find all the clues. Treasure hunting is great for schools, clubs, organizations, and any group looking for some fun and exercise. Design clues to be educational for location-based learning.

This version uses your device’s camera to capture images of DogSheep at user-specified locations in the real-world.

Note: To play games, credits must be purchased (in-app purchase). The game designer is responsible for purchasing credits on behalf of players that were invited. Testing your designs in Design Mode is free. Please contact us at [email protected] if you require assistance.

1. This APP is used for both treasure hunt design and play.
a) Use Design mode to design and test games.
b) Use Host mode to share and schedule your games. Shared games are given a Game ID, which you should distribute to potential players. The Game ID is also available as a QR code that potential players can scan to join the game.
c) Play mode is used to join and play games.
d) After players join, they cannot play until the game designer approves their participation (Admin function in Host mode). Approval requires credits (1 credit per player). The game designer is responsible for purchasing credits on behalf of the players.

2. Be sure to test your game before inviting others to play to verify the feasibility and safety of reaching each clue’s location, and to check the quality of the area’s Internet and GPS signal. Avoid placing clues indoors or between tall buildings where GPS signals can be poor. GPS accuracy can vary significantly depending on the environment and weather.

3. The exact location of each clue is at the clue number beneath the clue’s dogsheep map marker (not at the middle of the marker).

4. Due to GPS inaccuracies, your reported location may differ from your actual location. When using the camera to capture dogsheep, use your GPS location as shown on the map instead of your actual location to decide which direction to point your camera.

5. If you notice your GPS location is way off the actual location, try walking around until you get a better signal.
